Two accused ready to become approver in fake accounts scam
ISLAMABAD: An unusual development took place during the first hearing of the fake accounts case involving former president Asif Zardari when two accused women pleaded to become approver.
As the proceedings began today, two women namely Kiran and Noreen requested the court that they want to become approver in the multi-billion rupee scam. They also informed the judge about their written request to Chairman NAB.
On this, lawyers representing other accused objected to it and said this is not the time for this.
Judge Mohammad Bashir sought reply from NAB Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi on the plea. Abbasi said he was not sure about the application to NAB chief by the accused.
The court then directed them to submit separate applications with the court.
Earier, Farooq H Naek and Lateef Khosa appeared as counsels for Asif Zardari and Faryal Talpur.
Khosa apprised the judge about the situation he faced at the Judicial Complex. If such sort of harassment continued with the lawyers, how will the they assist the court, he argued.
The AC judge remarked that a mechanism needed to be devised to avoid such situation in future.
